Why Our Vetting Process is Different Than Other Contractors

Turn Key’s Chelsea Project

Turn Key’s Chelsea Project

If you are reading this blog you may have spoken to us over the phone before. We probably asked you a lot of questions about your renovation project that other contractors never mentioned. Sure, we also ask the standard questions such as:

  • When are you looking to start this project?

  • What do you want the finished product to look like?

If you are shopping around for quotes you’ve probably heard those questions a million times but we’ll also ask you:

  • Who else is looking forward to getting this done?

  • What qualities are important to you in a relationship with a contractor?

  • How are you going to feel when you walk into your home and it looks completely different?

Maybe you live alone and are the only one excited about opening up the wall between your kitchen and living room or exposing the brickwork. We love to hear how you are excited about that. Maybe your spouse does all the cooking and can’t wait to show off their skills in your new kitchen. We’d love to hear about that too! Maybe your kids are excited that you are finally renovating the basement and they can have a whole room dedicated to their toys and costumes.

Simply put, we ask these questions because we care. We don’t just care about how you want the finished product to look, we want to know why. What function do you need this space to serve? Does your pet need a dedicated space because they too are a member of the family? Are you excited to be hosting Thanksgiving for the first time in your new place? Have you lived in your home for 15 years and are ready for a change? All of these reasons make a difference in what you need for your final project. We can understand what you need and help prepare a better space for you.

Unlike most contractors, we charge a consultation fee to come out to your home. Contractors often take on many consultation appointments for free hoping to sell the job. As a result, they can have many appointments back to back without any breathing room in between. Ever wonder why your contractor was late for your meeting? He or she probably had one appointment go long which caused all their subsequent appointments to start late. Here at Turn Key we don’t take many consultation appointments. This means when we do go on an appointment we can give you our full attention because we are not thinking about who we have to go to next. We charge a consultation fee because we value your time.

When you invite Turn Key into your home we are not coming just to do work, we are coming to help you improve your life and that’s something that we take very seriously.
